Polychloroprene (CA), also known as neoprene, is a high-performance, multi-purpose synthetic rubber. It has a milky white to beige or light brown flake or lump appearance, is free of mechanical impurities other than talc, and has no burnt particles.
It exhibits good chemical stability in practical applications and remains flexible over a wide temperature range. For example, high tensile strength, heat resistance, light resistance, aging resistance, and oil resistance are better than natural rubber and butyl rubber.
Polychloroprene is, therefore, widely used in weather-resistant products, adhesive shoe soles, coatings, and rocket fuel.
Polychloroprene is used in a wide range of applications, mainly for wire and cable sheathing, hoses, oil-resistant rubber products, heat-resistant conveyor belts, printing sticks, rubber dams, construction seals, highway caulking sealants, bridge bearings, oilfield wire waterproof caps, flame-retardant rubber products, various sealing ring gaskets, and chemical equipment anti-corrosion linings.

It is soluble in toluene, xylene, ethylene dichloride, and ethylene trivanadium, slightly soluble in acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, and cyclohexane and insoluble in hexane and solvent gasoline.

It has good physical and mechanical properties, resistance to sunlight and ozone aging, weather resistance, chemical resistance, oil resistance, and non-flammable and electrical properties.
Type CR232 polychloroprene is a beige flake or lump, free of mechanical substances other than talc and free of burnt particles. It has excellent storage stability, processing properties, and safety.
Its products are resistant to sunlight, ozone aging, oil and chemical reagents, and prolonged combustion, in addition to good heat resistance and low compression deformation. However, the vulcanization speed is slow and needs to be solved by adjusting the vulcanization system.
Type CR2441 2442 polychloroprene is a milky white to light brown lump, free from mechanical impurities other than talc. It has high crystallization speed, strong cohesion, high bonding strength, and excellent resistance to ozone, weathering, grease, and non-flammable properties.
Type CR321 322 polychloroprene is generally in the form of beige flakes or lumps, free of mechanical impurities other than talc and burnt particles. It has good physical and mechanical properties and is resistant to sunlight and ozone aging, weathering, chemical reagents, and oil; non-flammable, airtight, and resistant to bending.
Electrical insulation, its tear strength is more excellent than type CR121. The product has good processability, is easy to plasticize, mix and extrude, has a smooth surface, and has good appearance quality. In addition, it has good processing safety.
Advantages of Polychloroprene
Polychloroprene has high tensile strength, elongation, and reversible crystallinity with good adhesive properties. Aging and heat resistant. Excellent resistance to oil and chemical corrosion. Weathering and ozone aging resistance are second only to ethylene propylene rubber and butyl rubber.
Heat resistance is comparable to NBR, with a decomposition temperature of 230-260°C, short-term resistance of 120-150°C, long-term use at 80-100°C, and a certain degree of flame retardancy. Oil resistance is second only to NBR. Good corrosion resistance to inorganic acids and alkalis.
The cold resistance is slightly worse, and the electrical insulation is not good. The storage stability of the raw rubber is poor, and the phenomenon of "self-sulphurization" can occur, with an increase in the viscosity of the Menny and a hardening of the raw rubber.
