Product Introduction:

Terephthalic acid (PTA) is one of the isomers of phthalic acid, the two carboxyl groups are in the para position of the benzene ring, and the chemical formula is C8H6O4. Terephthalic acid is a raw material for the production of polyesters, especially polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Terephthalic acid is insoluble in water, alcohol and ether, and sublimates without melting when heated, so it was purified by converting it into dimethyl ester before 1970.

Terephthalic acid is one of the important bulk organic raw materials and is widely used in various aspects of the national economy such as chemical fibers, light industry, electronics, and construction.

At the same time, the application of PTA is relatively concentrated, and more than 90% of the PTA in the world is used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (referred to as polyester, PET). The production of 1 ton of PET requires 0.85-0.86 tons of PTA and 0.33-0.34 tons of MEG (ethylene glycol).

Product Usage:

Terephthalic acid (TPA) is a compound produced by the distillation of petroleum. It is used as a solvent and in the production of polyesters. It can also be used as an additive in plastics, paints, adhesives and other products.

Most of this product is used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (polyester), which is an important raw material for polyester fibers, films, plastic products, insulating paints and plasticizers, and is also used in medicine, dyes and other products production.

There are many different applications of TPA, but mostly through the use of its thermal properties, which are very important for indoor air quality control systems (IAQC). In addition to these applications, TPA can also be used in paints and coatings for fire protection and building construction.

It is prepared industrially by hydrogenation and oxidation of methanol with chlorine or bromine gas in the presence of potassium hydroxide (KOH). Synthetic methods are generally reversible: either can be used to obtain another product.

To date, the demand for terephthalic acid (TPA) in the global market is increasing due to its application in various industries including polyester resins, films, fibers and paints.

Supplement: Terephthalic acid is a chemical extracted from oil-rich plants, including coconut and sunflower. The main source of this raw material is the aspalathus fruit, which consists of small seeds encased in their own hard shell. After thorough peeling, it can be extracted into an orange-brown liquid called “palm manganate”.

Side Effects of Terephthalic Acid:

This is a short introduction about the side effects of Terephthalic acid.

Terephthalic acid is an important chemical compound in the production of plastics and other products. It is used in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and beverages. But the true nature of their side effects is not understood. There have been a number of cases where people have died after taking Terephthalic acid, even when it was thought that they were not ill.The truth is that Terephthalic acid has a very unpleasant taste and smell, and can cause skin irritations like rashes or inflammation. Some people are even allergic to it.

The most common side effects of TPA are: 1. Excessive Asthma2. Dizziness/Headaches3. Seizures/Severe Headaches (Cataplexy) 4. Ataxia/Balance Disorders (Cerebellar Ataxia)5. Migraines6. Fatigue7. Chills and Fever8. Headache Complaints9. Impaired Vision and Hearing10. Skin Reactions11. Depression12. Gastrointestinal Problems.
