Carbomer Introduction:
Carbomer, additionally referred to as polycarboxyvinyl, is a polymer formed by chemical crosslinking of acrylic acid or acrylic acid esters with allyl ethers, consisting of polyacrylic acid (homopolymer) and long-chain alkanol acrylate polymers (copolymers).
Its molecular structure has 52-68% acid groups, so it has a specific level of acidity and hydrophilic residential properties, and can be dissolved in water, ethanol and glycerol.

Carbopol, likewise known as carbomer, is an acrylic crosslinked resin gotten by crosslinking pentaerythritol and acrylic acid. It is a really vital rheological regulatory authority.

- As a formulation of topical drugs, carbomer can be used as a carrier matrix to make ointments, suppositories, gels, emulsions, etc.
- By utilizing its gelling, adhesiveness, and film-forming properties, it can be used as a carrier matrix and a bio-patch made of drugs in bio-adhesives. Because it has a long retention time in the tissue mucosa, it improves the bioavailability of drugs, such as: targeting mucosa for drug delivery, including the eye, nasal cavity, intestinal tract, vaginal and rectal mucosa.
